I just reserved my new monitor, an LG L1952S-SF, 19″ 1280×1024, 8ms, 1600:1 contrast, 300cd/cm2 brightness IIRC. It’s not top stuff, but it’s what I can afford. Problem 1: I don’t have vehicle to go get it. Problem 2: I don’t have vehicle to get rid of my actual Hitachi CM611ET, which is longer than wider, and weights about a ton or more. Disadvantages of being an isolated sociopathic…
If you’ve noticed, I’ve been more active lately. I’m feeling a bit better, and I was really bored. I’ve written a little bit, and also started to post old stuff I wrote years ago. I also made another page about the site with some unfrequently questioned answers.
The Lord Of The Rings
Fantasy. USA, 1978
Director: Ralph Bakshi
Writers: J.R.R. Tolkien (original novels), Chris Conkling (screenplay), and more
Cast: Christopher Guard, William Squire, John Hurt
Failed attempt to translate Tolkien’s monumental work into a series of movies, and certainly disappointing from multiple views. (more…)
Casshern
Science-fiction. Japan, 2004
Director: Kazuaki Kiriya
Writers: Kazuaki Kiriya (screenplay), Dai Sato, and more.
Cast: Yusuke Iseya, Kumiko Aso, Akira Terao, Hiroyuki Miyasako
Stunning visuals, absolutely classic anime-style with live-action actors, epic soundtrack, awesome dialogues, and beautiful moments. Casshern is a fine example that original means “old stuff presented in a new way”, without forgetting quality. (more…)
Originally written around 2005.
Or almost… Ten movies or sagas (actually they are 17 movies), which I’ve personally watched, and I think they are essential to understand SciFi cinema. I’d like to clarify a couple of things regarding this selection; because it’s just that, a personal selection. (more…)
I saw this morning that eMule has been updated. eMule is my current choice for P2P file sharing, it’s quite nice and popular. I suggest all the users to upgrade to eMule 0.48a, or if you haven’t tried it, do it now. It is different from BitTorrent, just another league. Better for non 0-dayz stuff. Edit: The new 0.48a is faster, more responsive, consumes less resources and it’s a must update. Please update ASAP!
This morning was also the first one in a long time that I didn’t find any spambots in the board. KittenAuth rules!
Well, the phpBB captcha experiment was a total success. Success in the sense that I discovered that phpBB’s embedded captcha is total crap. I’ve been receiving more spam with the captcha activated than without it. Funny, uh? Spambots must be optimized for finding this captcha nowadays, and maybe they freaked out when they didn’t find it. Now that it’s there, they’re happy. Just yesterday, I deleted ten spam users… (more…)
This article is intended to deal with a simple question, related to design applied to the web. Should web design allow for adaptable width columns? If not, then how wide should a column be? (more…)
I’m very sorry for the lack of posting lately. I’ve been pretty down, and meds aren’t helping. I never intended that this were yet another abandoned blog, and I actually have a lot of material almost ready to be posted (about 10 or 12 articles, old and new), but I can’t seem to have the energy or will to actually write and edit enough to publish one. I’ll try to post at least one later, and maybe when I get my new monitor, I’ll be wanting to write more.
