A frantic action movie with a very good dose of humour and comic situations.

Jason Statham is Chev Chelios, a hitman which has been poisoned with a substance that will kill him if he ever stops. Adrenaline keeps him alive, and his only obsession is vengeance.

Usually, action movies try to carry a dramatic element which doesn’t go actually well. There are great drama action movies, but usually that’s not the case. However, when an action movie turns and tries to put some laughs in, it hits the nail. Crank is one of these movies, with frantic action and many comical moments. Actually I think that the factor which makes the movie so nice is the comedy mixture, and I’m praising it for the smart blend of comedy and action.

I can really say that it was a very entertaining movie, with some aggressive edition and soundtrack. The action is frantic, fast, brutal, yet not gory in the usual meaning. While there is blood, it’s not the target of the movie. The whole deal is about vengueance, adrenaline, and a surprisingly good, not out of place story of redemption through a rather strange love.

While it’s not a masterpiece, not even in the action genre, I recommend it as a great popmuncher, with a really high entertainment factor and assured laughs. Watch it with some friends and popcorn and you’ll have a good time.

My score: 6/10. Not a masterpiece, but funny and entertaining.
