To celebrate the 12th anniversary of the series, EA is releasing the original Command & Conquer for free. Both the GDI and the Nod discs are available as ISO files, which can be burned into CDs, or mounted in virtual units with tools like Daemon Tools, UltraISO or Alcohol. Which IMHO it’s much more practical. There’s also documentation for making the game run under Windows XP.
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn was, at the moment of its release, the summum of the real time strategy games which began to become famous with Dune II and the well known Warcraft saga. C&C is still a great game to play, and a classic to have in any collection. As a bonus, this free release seems to include the expansion pack called Covert Operations and any game patch which was released after the Gold edition. Don’t say no!
