Well, here I am with another large article no one will read just because I feel like writing it. This time it’s about movie adaptations. The title itself comes from the spanish title of the movie Adaptation. (Spike Jonze, 2002), which is a movie about adaptations from another medium to cinema. But, instead of doing some large essay about the theory of adaptations, how they have been implemented, and putting some examples at the end, I’ll do something different. I’ll just write about my opinions on some adaptations, why I have such opinions, and the relative merits and faults of such adaptations. (more…)
I am proud to announce the first public release of Xtatix. It’s a demo pack in video format, consisting of more than 300 demos captured in AVI and MPEG, scattered among four full DVDs. You can learn more at the Xtatix homepage, where you’ll find all the info, including the lists of the demos included, and also a torrent file you can get and use with your bittorrent client to acquire the four DVDs.
Xtatix is a totally freeware and legal production so I’ve used OpenBitTorrent as the main tracker; however you’re also free to upload the torrent to other public trackers. I hope that you enjoy Xtatix whether if you’re a demoscene fan, or if you’re new to demos and you are experiencing them for the first time.

(more…)
After a long time without touching it, I’ve rewritten the PHP lil proggie which generates my list of movies. Although in the surface nothing has changed, the code is very different, cleaner, more redundancy free, easier to change and maintain, and generally I’m happier with the result. The only thing I’ve not done is to change from HTML to XHTML/CSS, I’m saving that for next time. The only visible change is the possibility of generating the list as text almost ready to print (only taking 4 double-sided pages at Arial 8 in two columns). I’ve also made a permanent link, so from now on, the list will always be available at http://www.eligeotravez.net/moviez. Although the list is mainly in spanish, it’s perfectly browsable by english speakers, with each movie having the original title.
Yesterday I designed and printed a sheet to place in the spine of another rigid DVD albums. I had one of these Hofmann rigid albums for CDs and DVDs for years, but I couldn’t find another one until this thursday when I saw one while searching for my new printer. They’re 9€ and can handle 120 discs or covers. I like them more than the other semi-rigid archivers with zip and poor sewing, for more or less the same proportional price. The rigid albums, on the other side, have independent sheets (for eight discs) in a ring structure. (more…)
Today I’ve designed and printed a sheet to place in the spine of my rigid DVD albums. More specifically, the one where I keep the movies from the drama, science-fiction and thriller genres (about 450). Part of this sheet is seen in the front and the back of the album. (more…)
