Moloko es un dúo que siempre me sorprende. El gusto ecléctico mostrado por Mark Brydon al componer y producir la música, mezclado con el extraño atractivo de la voz y la manera de cantar de Roisin Murphy, siempre han mostrado originalidad y calidad en buenas cantidades. La última canción que ha captado mi atención es Where is the what if the what is in why? (algo así como “dónde está el qué si el qué está en el por qué”), con un ritmo y unas letras extrañamente hipnóticas, con un video musical que es parte psicodelia setentera y parte animación japonesa experimental. I Am Gothic

Las canciones que últimamente me han llamado la atención son casi todas instrumentales o con letra en japonés - algo que hace un poco difícil el que me decida a poner las letras aquí. Mencionaría Pulsar por Captain Kirk (no, no es un chiste) o Doll por Terra (de un juego DDR). En vez de ellas, voy a escribir sobre una canción algo pasada del 2001, un éxito popero radiofónico que, a pesar de su nombre, no tiene nada de gótico. La encontré divertida, ya que más o menos cuando descubrí esta canción, también conocí a una gótica. La canción no es genial, pero es pegadiza y divertida, y bailable. (más…)

Estaba hoy viendo Conspiración cuando escuché una canción que no oía desde hace mucho. Y es una pena, porque me encanta esta canción. No otra que Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, escrita por Bob Crewe y Bob Gaudio, y lanzada a la fama por Frankie Valli en 1967. Versionada por mucha gente, desde Pet Shop Boys a Gloria Gaynor. Personalmente, mi versión favorita es la de Lauryn Hill. Aquí tienes las letras, préstales atención, creo que son absolutamente preciosas. (más…)
