It has been a long time since my last post; job is not really absorbing but I simply don’t spend much time in front of the computer anymore. I have watched The Godfather trilogy recently and I wanted to write one of my eclectic reviews, but the idea of sitting for one hour writing in two languages isn’t very attractive right now. (more…)

How hard is having a job

Well, it has been one week in my new job. It wasn’t bad, I must admit. I’ve been nervous during all the week except yesterday; I think I’m getting the hang of it. The work is relatively easy, although also relatively complex: lots of rules with lots of exceptions. For now, the really hardest part is organization. I got too used to create my own methods and organization to achieve a goal, but here I must adapt to the existing organization and methods. (more…)

Weight and job

Well, yesterday I got two good news. First one is that I weighted myself with my nurse, but the scale didn’t show good results. Once the nurse got off the scale, the results improved. In my first month of change of eating habits, I’ve lost 10kg (22 pounds). Not bad - what the heck, it’s awesome ^_^ Actually I’ve not made big changes, it’s not a strict diet or anything. Avoid unhealthy food and eat healthier and cleaner, eat fish once a day and don’t eat bread, and distribute meals in five times without eating stuff in the middle. (more…)

Lilac in my room

Finally I’ve been able to paint my room, which was in severe need after years of smoking and humidity. I chose a beautiful lilac, as you can see in the pictures. They’ve been three hectic days and one more to recover from all the moving, cleaning, painting, and moving again. But the result was worth it.

Comeback

Hello everyone, again. After months of laziness, I’ve decided to put up the old site while I develop the new one. Actually I haven’t even started it. Lots of changes in my life, related directly or indirectly to Pi In The Sky, have prevented me from even thinking about what skin I will use. For example, my main development platform is Ubuntu now. I’ve not even set up the LAMP server to do the stuff.

I hope the site is not too broken, nor that it’s hacked again due to another unsanitized database input in some random plugin… At least I have some new articles to put up in the meanwhile.

Mr. Do and the postman

Today I’ve received something from the other side of the pond, more specifically from Cauliflowernia. I asked Mr. Do for a favour and he added some more items in the package. One of them is a mighty great Atari Tetris (1988) bezel. A bezel is a piece of artwork which surrounds the screen in an arcade machine. The other is a great sticker with the non-TM version of the MAME logo; the sticker is about 27cm wide, I’ll see where I can put it. I plan to frame the bezel with a print of the Atari Tetris intro screen as shown in the image. I just need to decide which of the MAME overlays looks closer to an arcade monitor.

Slippery when potholed

I’ve been a few days wanting to do a positive update to this site, telling all the good stuff (besides the shoulder) which has been happening to me lately. Instead, I’m telling you all that yesterday I stepped badly into a pothole in the street, slipped and fell. The left knee was mildly scratched, a lot of blood but nothing serious. The right ankle was twisted, and I have a pretty severe sprain with important swelling. The result: a mid-cast from toes to knee (not included) for about 15 days minimum. Total prohibition to use the foot to walk or anything. Keep it high. Walk with croutches. All that shit. Ah, well, one can’t scape from Murphy… Not even the town, which is going to be sued ^_^

The last two books I’ve bought for myself

So yesterday I was shopping and I pampered myself with two whimsical things I had from long ago. The first one is Gil Elvgren - The Complete Pin-Ups, which I’ve been searching for a long time, and that I found by pure chance. A wonderful thing, and with this thing of Taschen’s 25th anniversary, very cheapy. The other one is M.C. Escher, Graphic Work, and this one was also ubercheap for the quality it has. And both of them were together! I didn’t want to separate one of each other so I bought both ^_^
