Localization of WordPress themes

Having a WordPress theme in your own language is quite easy, if the theme supports internationalization. Actually, internationalization, or i18n, is not the same as localization, or l10n. Internationalization is the process to make a piece of software ready to support localization. Localization itself is the process to translate a piece of software (which has passed i18n) to a specific language or locale. (more…)

Insecurely secure

I was finally uploading a semi-definitive version of Pi in the Sky to EligeOtraVez.net when I noticed a small error in the XHTML code of one of the posts. I went there to edit it, make the change, press save and… Oooops! 403: Forbidden. You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/post.php on this server. (more…)

Changing table prefix for WordPress

After I discovered that my host didn’t give me unlimited databases, I thought that I should optimize the database usage. So I went and changed the WordPress table prefix, thinking of future expansions of the database I use for WordPress (maybe more blogs in the future?) But this gave me some problems which took me a little bit to overcome. (more…)
